This week I will be the “mystery reader” at my grandson’s preschool. I chose a story about all the ways that we can show love to each other. The book is “Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse!” based on the book “If You Give A Mouse a Cookie…” Mouse makes special valentines for each of his friends. He points out that Pig is a good dancer, Moose is a great artist, Cat is strong, Dog is always happy to see his friends, Bunny is best at hiding, etc. To his surprise, Mouse hears a knock on the door and finds all of his friends bringing him a cookie with heart-shaped morsels! What a nice surprise!
This February I am reminded of my lovable friends and family. I appreciate your God-given qualities unique to you and your personalities. Peg-gy, you are a good dancer and drill teamer. Moo-nica, I love your arts and crafts projects, especially the felt cat. Cat-rina, you are strong in your faith. Doug, you act like you are always happy to see me. Bonny, you are good at hiding, but I love when I find you!
If no one else gives you a valentine or says, “I love you!” during this month, know that God loves you more than anything, and he has given you special gifts that you may not even know you have. Try something new and see!
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
You are loved, and loved perfectly!!
